My Eyes Opened to Reality’: Former Deeper Life Member on Why He Left Christianity.
The ex-member, identified on X as @JJExclusive1, recounted that his decision was influenced by events surrounding his mother’s health challenge eight years ago. According to him, his mother suffered a stroke, and when the family sought support and guidance from church leaders, they were left disappointed by what he described as a lack of help and empathy from both pastors and the church.

Sharing his story on social media, @JJExclusive1 said the experience opened his eyes to what he perceived as manipulation within the church, ultimately pushing him to develop a deep resentment toward Christianity. His post sparked widespread reactions and debates online, with many users expressing mixed emotions.

In his words, he wrote:

“I lost faith in God when my mum became a stroke patient eight years ago. I’m not really in the mood to explain, but pastors whined us like mad, church whined us like mad. My eyes opened to reality, and I developed a crazy hatred for Christianity. I experienced first-hand manipulation from the so-called respected top men of God.”

In a follow-up post, he addressed those who had reached out to him privately to preach Christianity, stating that such messages were misplaced. He explained that he was born and raised in Deeper Life, brought up with the Bible, and had even preached from the pulpit in the past. According to him, his background made further attempts to “convince” him unnecessary, as he believed he had already seen what he described as the reality behind religion.

The story has continued to generate reactions across social media platforms. First Premium has compiled some of the responses shared by users.

One user, @MachiavelliCap1, advised separating faith in God from trust in religious leaders, noting that pastors and priests are human and capable of flaws. Another, @equitysociety_, shared a similar personal experience involving the loss of a mother and the struggle to reconcile faith with grief, while @Kckingson recounted how unmet needs within the church led him to stop attending services altogether.

Meanwhile, First Premium previously reported a related story of a man who quit church for nine months and later spoke about the consequences of his decision. In a TikTok video, the man explained that leaving the church after moving away from home negatively affected his life, though he did not go into detail. He, however, warned others not to repeat what he described as his mistake.

These accounts continue to fuel conversations about faith, leadership, and personal experiences within religious institutions, highlighting how deeply personal encounters can influence belief systems.
