Arise TV presenter, Rufai Oseni, has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to withdraw police security protection attached to Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Oseni’s call followed comments made by Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, who recently criticized what he described as the misuse of state institutions and the rising culture of political privilege in Nigeria.

In a statement, Oseni stressed that security resources should not be disproportionately allocated to politically connected individuals while ordinary Nigerians face severe insecurity challenges daily.

According to him, the IGP must demonstrate fairness and national responsibility by ensuring that police protection is reserved for critical national needs, rather than extending luxury-level security to individuals simply because of their relationship with those in power.

Soyinka’s criticism has reignited national debate on accountability, transparency, and the proper use of security agencies, especially as Nigeria moves closer to another heated political cycle.

Public reactions continue to trail Oseni’s remarks, with many citizens calling for broader reforms within the policing system and a reassessment of how state security assets are deployed.
