| Political Tension in Oyo: Ogundoyin, Sola Ladoja, and Ajimobi React to Alleged Plot Against Government |
Political conversations in Oyo State have taken a new turn following recent allegations of an impeachment plot against the state government, an issue that has continued to generate strong reactions from prominent political figures.
The controversy, which has been making rounds across political circles and social media platforms, has attracted responses from the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, the son of the Olubadan, Sola Ladoja, and the wife of the late former governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi.
Ogundoyin Speaks on Alleged Inducement
Reacting to the report, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin firmly dismissed any insinuation that he would be part of any move capable of destabilising the current administration in Oyo State.
According to him, he was allegedly offered monetary inducement to compromise his position, but he refused, stressing that integrity and loyalty remain his guiding principles.
I was offered monetary inducement, but I declined without hesitation because no amount of money can buy my conscience or compromise my loyalty to the Governor, the party, and the people we were elected to serve. I remain fully committed to upholding the integrity of this House and will not be part of any agenda aimed at destabilising the government.
— Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin
His statement has been interpreted by many as a clear indication of his continued support for Governor Seyi Makinde and the ruling party in the state.
Sola Ladoja Fires Back
However, the situation escalated after Sola Ladoja, son of the Olubadan, issued a strong response directed at the Chief Whip, alleging that Ogundoyin had misled him.
Sola Ladoja claimed he personally introduced Ogundoyin to the Olubadan (his father) and accused him of political betrayal. He further alleged that Ogundoyin’s actions are motivated by personal ambition, particularly a desire to contest for the governorship.
I was the one who took Debo Ogundoyin to Kabiyesi (my father) because he begged me to. Dear Chief Whip, you have just been used as a tool by a coward and liar. I will release receipts if Debo doesn't do the right thing. All because of his selfish ambitions to be governor.
— Sola Ladoja
His statement has added more fuel to the growing political tension, as observers now await further clarification or evidence regarding the claims.
Florence Ajimobi Denies Impeachment Meeting Allegation
In another twist, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, wife of the late former governor Abiola Ajimobi, also reacted to reports alleging that she convened a meeting in Lagos to plan the impeachment of a political figure identified as “GSM.”
She described the allegation as false, baseless, and politically motivated.
I did not convene any meeting in Lagos or anywhere to impeach GSM, the report is false, baseless and politically motivated.
— Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi
Her denial has sparked further debate among political watchers, especially as the late Ajimobi’s political legacy continues to influence Oyo State politics.
A Brewing Storm in Oyo Politics
With multiple key figures issuing conflicting
statements, the political atmosphere in Oyo State appears increasingly tense. Many residents and political stakeholders are now watching closely to see whether more revelations will emerge or if the
matter will be resolved through party leadership intervention.
As the saying goes:
The wind will soon blow and the yansh of the fowl will be exposed."
Indeed, the coming days may reveal the full details behind the accusations and counter-accusations shaking Oyo’s political space.
